ISQ’s Approach to Professional E-Learning Recognised by International Award
20 July 2017
Independent Schools Queensland’s cutting-edge delivery of professional e-learning courses to school teachers and principals has earned an excellence award from an international education technology company.
ISQ was awarded a 2017 Brightspace Excellence Award by D2L at the company’s annual global education conference, Fusion, in the United States today.
ISQ Executive Director David Robertson said ISQ partnered with D2L in 2015 to create ISQ’s first formal Learning Management System called Connect&Learn.
“Connect&Learn enables ISQ to provide comprehensive and timely professional learning to school staff located across Queensland. Courses are tailored specifically for independent schools and cover a wide range of topics from school compliance, to literacy and numeracy, assessment and educational data,” Mr Robertson said.
“The Brightspace award recognises ISQ’s development of three specific e-learning courses on Child Protection, Domestic and Family Violence and Partnering with Local Indigenous Communities,” he said.
“ISQ is particularly proud of these courses which use real-life, case-based scenarios to provide a richly interactive learning experience to support school staff in dealing with often very challenging issues and emotional situations.
“I would like to acknowledge the work of all ISQ staff in developing Connect&Learn led by ISQ’s Manager (eLearning and Educational Technologies) Madeleine Green and former ISQ Assistant Director (Teaching and Learning) Leigh Williams.
“Over the past three years ISQ has built up its online offerings to schools. Teachers, principals and other staff can now access more than 60 courses and online communities created around key subject areas.
“Connect&Learn is an integral part of ISQ’s ongoing support services for member schools and is continuing to attract new users with more than 10,400 school staff now registered to use Connect&Learn.”
