Early Childhood & Kindergarten

A child’s early years are a crucial window for physical, social and emotional growth and development. Early childhood and kindergarten programs foster positive learning experiences and establish the foundations to help children blossom into creative, resilient and capable learners.

Children who participate in a quality early learning program at an independent school often experience a smooth transition when moving to Prep at the same school, further eased by the strong relationship between Kindy and Prep teachers, and by having an increased familiarity and confidence with their surroundings.

Children need to be four years of age by 30 June in the year they enrol in an approved kindergarten program, however, flexibility exists around delayed entry and exit enrolments.

Independent school early childhood services deliver an educational program under both the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and the Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guideline (QKLG). The framework and guideline work together and allow for each service to weave their own philosophy throughout their educational program. Independent school early childhood services are approved under the National Quality Framework (NQF) and are required to meet National Quality Standards. The NQF operates under the Education and Care Services National Law and the Education and Care Services National Regulations.
