Independent Schools Queensland (ISQ) welcomes the opportunity to respond to the Independent Strategic Review of Queensland’s human rights and anti-discrimination framework, including the Human Rights Act 2019 (Qld), Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 (Qld) and relevant amendments under the Respect at Work and Other Matters Amendment Act 2024 (Qld).

ISQ supports a framework that protects people from unlawful discrimination and promotes respect for human rights, while remaining clear, proportionate and practical. The submission considers the implications of proposed reforms for independent schools, including safeguarding, legal certainty, positive duties and regulatory processes.
