Independent Schools Queensland (ISQ) is pleased to welcome John-Paul Langbroek MP as the newly appointed Queensland Minister for Education and Minister for Arts.

Mr. Langbroek brings a wealth of experience to the role, having previously served as Education Minister in the Liberal National Party Government from 2012 to 2015. During his tenure, he established a positive and collaborative working relationship with the independent education sector.

“The independent school sector in Queensland has been fortunate to have a long running, collaborative and supportive relationship for many years with the Queensland Government and the Queensland Department of Education,” ISQ Chief Executive Officer, Chris Mountford said.

“On behalf of ISQ’s Chair, Board of Directors and our 233 independent member schools, I would like to congratulate Mr Langbroek on his appointment as Minister for Education and Minister for Arts,” he said.

“His previous experience and proven track record of working constructively across all sectors of education will be invaluable as we continue to strive for excellence in education for the benefit of all students in Queensland.

"As our state experiences unprecedented population growth, it is crucial that we work together to ensure that our education system can meet this increasing demand and the expectations of a growing number of Queensland parents who are choosing independent schools for their children,” he said.

Mr Mountford also expressed his gratitude for outgoing Minister for Education, Di Farmer MP.

“In her time as Minister for Education, Ms Farmer expressed sincere and engaged support for the Independent schooling sector, and we thank her for her dedication to the role and to all the students, teachers and education professionals across the state,” he said.
